Welcome to GCUT, our freshmen!

Gathering at the Guangzhou City University of Technology, numerous freshmen turn over a new leaf here to pursue their dreams.

From August 30 to September 1, undergraduate freshmen from different places registered at GCUT. With ardent expectations, they entered a new era of self-improvement in college.

Warm welcome with considerate reception

GCUT has set up reception stand at specific stations. Volunteers and staff provided guidance for freshmen and their families

Reception stands for freshmen in the campus were also ready for freshmen. The first meeting left gorgeous impression on each other.

School buses carried loads of luggage, driving freshmen and their families to their destinations.

Reception stands set inside the university helped to dispel freshmen’ doubts, solving problems such as registration and luggage carrying. Volunteers provided considerate services for every new-coming GCUTer.

Reception services for freshmen were also set on the first floor of the Administrative Building. Our staff solved freshmen’ problems one-on-one with enthusiasm and consideration.

Security in charge of traffic guidance under the scorching sun, while dormitory supervisors helping to receive freshmen, shielding for the freshmen reception.

Various dishes are provided in the canteens, covering flavors from different regions. Students can enjoy home-style cooking here.

On the day welcoming the arrival of freshmen, representatives of the university leadership came for on-site inspection, including the university gate, dormitories, and each reception services for freshmen in order to know the actual situations of reception in detail. Meanwhile, they conveyed warm regards to staff and student volunteers, and talked with freshmen and their families for understanding their feelings.

GCUT held the reception for the arrival of freshmen with sincerity, which can be shown in different display boards as well as banners and creative gondolas. GCUT welcomes every freshmen with its sincere regards!

Freshman from the School of Mechanical Engineering:

Farewell to my senior high school, I look forward to entering a new chapter of my life with excitement. I am curious about the new environment to be adapted, knowledge to be learned and relationship to be established. Banners for welcoming freshmen, enthusiastic volunteers and school roads with green trees make me feel the warmth and consideration of the university. I hope I can explore new things for self-growing and strive to be a high achiever in the future. Hopefully, I can be a better me through efforts in the following four years.

Freshman from the School of Economics:

It is the first time I entered a campus. I feel great about the environment and atmosphere of GCUT as well as the kinds and taste of dishes provided in canteens. In my opinion, college seems a brand-new and independent society, where I hope to live an independent life here. Moreover, I expect to develop deep friendship with my roommates. For my future plan, I intend to stick to the curriculum and enhance my professional literacy through learning with steady progress. I look forward the future college life.

High scorer in the college entrance examination sharing their love and expectation for GCUT

Wen Xun, freshman from the School of Electrical Engineering

Brief introduction: Wen is a freshman from the School of Electrical Engineering, majoring in Electrical Engineering and Automation. His score in the college entrance examination was 522, 80 higher than the provincial second batch of undergraduate (Professional group 202, physics + chemistry).

The reason why I chose GCUT over other universities with the same major was through comparison as well as sharing opinions with alumnus of GCUT and my elders. GCUT is clean, senior female and male schoolmates are enthusiastic while the dormitory is better than I have imagined. For my college plan, I expect to adapt to my speciality study in the freshman year and seek opportunities for internship in the junior year. Meanwhile, I will strive to get scholarships as well as preparing for the national entrance examination for postgraduate.

Yu Tianhao, freshman from the School of Jewelry

Brief introduction: Yu is a freshman from the School of Jewelry, majoring in Visual Communication Design. His score in the college entrance examination was 472, 81 higher than the provincial second batch of undergraduate (Professional group 205, arts).

I chose GCUT under a high score was because I planned to work and live in Guangzhou in the future. Besides, the reason I selected the major lied on its promising development. I hope to better myself through learning professional knowledge while broadening my horizon by participating in competitions and activities related to my major, thus developing my competence in my college years.

What freshmen’ parents said

Mr. Yang: It is the first time I came to GCUT. The environment and infrastructure are satisfactory. When we had doubts about registration and got lost in the campus, volunteers were enthusiastic to offer help. I learn about the rich dishes provided in the canteens from the official account of GCUT, which I expect to have a taste. Hopefully, my child can live a happy life here in the following four years.

Mrs. Yang: We drove here from the Inner Mongolia, crossing over 2,300 kilometers. It took us five days to get here with driving while traveling along our journey. GCUT made quite an impression on us, which makes me feel welcoming and inclusive about the university, just like Guangzhou. The atmosphere here is wonderful while the dishes provided in canteens are rich since my child can get used to such dishes. I hope my child can make efforts and adapt to the college life sooner.

Welcome to enter the new stage of your life, university, where you can make your dreams come true. It seems like senior dungeons that are challenging and surprising. You need to be strong and brave enough to encounter various “game levels”. Cherish your time to equip yourselves with knowledge and skills while taking an active part in joining school clubs to improve your interpersonal relationships and broaden your horizon. I hope you can make great progress and live a colorful life in college to acquire knowledge, friendship and growth. Looking forward to your splendid growth in the following four years!
